What is SAT

SAT an acronym for Scholastic Aptitude Test is a widely standardize test for college and university admissions in the United States, and outside her territory.

Since its debut in 1926, its name and scoring have changed several times; originally called the Scholastic Aptitude Test, it was later called the Scholastic Assessment Test, then the SAT I: Reasoning Test, then the SAT Reasoning Test, then simply the SAT.

The SAT Testing score is an important component for the students’ undergraduate applications into any choice of University or College.

The SAT is wholly owned, developed, and published by the College Board, a private, not-for-profit organization in the United States. It is administered on behalf of the College Board by the Educational Testing Service, which until recently developed the SAT as well. The test is intended to assess students’ readiness for college. The SAT was originally designed not to be aligned with high school curricula, but several adjustments were made for the version of the SAT introduced in 2016, and College Board president David Coleman has said that he also wanted to make the test reflect more closely what students learn in high school with the new Common Core standards

The new SAT score ranges from 400 to 1600.There will only be 2 sections instead of 3: Math and combined writing Language (unlike the former, Math, Critical Reading, and Writing section). Each of the 2 Paper Based Test sections will be scored from 200 to 800 which is about 3hours, 50minutes

It is used for undergraduate admissions and it is managed or controlled by College Board.

SAT I and SAT II

It should be noted that SAT I is referred as the SAT while SAT II is more descriptively known as the SAT subject Tests.

SAT I and SAT II possible scores range is from 400-1600, while combining test results from the two 800-point sections: SAT I has Mathematics and Combined Writing Language for Testing while SAT II (Subject Test) has; Literature, History, Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, French, German, Spanish, Italian etc. for Testing.

Students are so lucky that the new SAT is easier to pass than the former because of the following:

  • NO obscure vocabulary
  • Fewer answer choices
  • More time
  • No penalty for Guessing etc

SAT Testing is officially held 7 times in a year which is as follows;

October, November, December, January, March, May and June.

A good SAT Testing score may result in scholarship opportunities to Study Abroad and by so doing, students are always advised to receive an extensive lecture.

Q. When to Take the SAT?

A. The timing for your SAT is extremely important to reap its benefits in full. The timing for your next SAT exam should be ideally governed by the following factors.

  • a) When Are Your College Application Deadlines?

This is another important factor. Candidates who are looking to apply for scholarships that require you to provide SAT Scores should apply in advance as scholarships usually take a longer time to process and include a lot of paperwork.
